The scoring system in AP3C follows the traditional stroke play method used in golf, where players aim to complete each hole in the fewest number of strokes. In addition to the traditional scoring process, AP3C incorporates certain elements to ensure accuracy, transparency, and real-time tracking of scores.
Here's how the scoring system works in AP3C:
1. Number of Strokes: Players count the number of strokes it takes them to complete each hole, including penalty strokes for rule violations.
2. Scorecards: Players record their scores on physical scorecards provided by the tournament organizers. Each hole is numbered, and players write down the number of strokes taken to complete each hole.
3. Scoring Steward: AP3C appoints a scoring steward for every round of golf played. The scoring steward's role is to verify the scorecards of each player, ensuring accurate recording of scores.
4. Golf Course Liaison/Manager: At each state AP3C affiliated golf course, there is an AP3C golf course liaison/manager. Their responsibility is to sign off on every scorecard, confirming its authenticity and accuracy.
5. Digital Scorecards: AP3C also provides an updated digital scorecard feature on the AP3C WEBSITE. Players can use this feature to record their scores digitally, ensuring real-time tracking of scores and enabling automatic calculation of total scores.
6. AP3C Leaderboard: The digital scorecards on the AP3C WEBSITE help maintain an updated leaderboard. This leaderboard tracks the scores of all participants round by round, providing an overview of the standings throughout the tournament in Australia.
By incorporating a scoring steward, golf course liaison/manager, and digital scorecards, AP3C ensures that the scoring process is reliable, verified, and transparent. The digital scorecards and leaderboard feature on the AP3C app further enhance the overall experience by providing real-time score updates and an overview of the tournament's progress.
